Training Is Blank...Is Blank
Yeah, there is an irony in a blog called Training is Blank that is mostly blank, but I figured I would use that humorous momentum to quickly share the vision I have for this site. Basically as instructional designers and trainers we are all about the plans, the outlines, the learning paths, and taxonomies, but despite our mastery of content creation, we don't really get a lot of help when it comes to content assembly. What are the practices and pitfalls when it comes to graphic design and production design and video direction and, probably more importantly, why would learners care?
Join me on this journey as I bring my 15 years of graphic design experience, 10 years of marketing, and 8 years of training together to show off some tips and best practices for what to do when your training is, literally, blank! There is a surprising amount of content I have in mind from fonts to colors, working with corporate branding, how international audiences see content, audio production, video composition, and I'm also hoping to branch this off into showing some cool design tips directly inside of tools like Camtasia, Captivate, Photoshop, Powerpoint, and whatever else I can get my hands on.
I am very excited to share all of this with you so please keep checking here or subscribe to my YouTube channel by clicking this link or find me on Facebook. I am also very new to this so I would love your comments and feedback of what you would like to see and how I'm doing so far! I am in no way saying everything I show are ABSOLUTE MUST FOLLOW rules; I'm just merely hoping that maybe I can help move that need of professionalism and quality a little bit more, or at least make it so when you see that blank Powerpoint slide, you can confidently say "I've got something I want to try."
Thank you so much and I will see you soon!
Joe
